Sautéed Mushrooms

Nick - I'll cook steak!
Sherry - Great, I'll cook the vegetable. What kind?
Nick - how about mushrooms?
Sherry - not sure mushrooms count as an actual vegetable

but I'll cook it with wine so it will be fine.

Made at Oleander Ave. November 2014

8 oz button mushrooms sliced (or any kind you like or mixed)
2 shallots medium diced

2 cloves garlic finely chopped
1 tablespoon butter
1 tablespoon olive oil
1/3 cup white wine
ground black pepper
ground sea salt

For creamy mushroom sauce - 1/2 cup cream (full or half n half)

3 oz cream cheese

Heat olive oil and butter together in a large pan.  Sauté onions and mushrooms and sautee until almost tender stirring occasionally (about 5 minutes).  Add garlic and sauté for one minute more.  Pour in white wine and continue to sauté until sauce is reduced and mushrooms are finished (about 7 minutes).

For creamy sauce, pour cream over mushrooms and add cream cheese. Continue to heat until cream cheese is melted and cream has just started to bubble.

Serve with steak or Grilled Pork Tenderloin and more wine.
